US Anti-Boycott Laws: Four Things Exporters Should Know!
The U.S. anti-boycott laws prohibit U.S. companies from cooperating with the Arab League boycott against Israel and other foreign boycotts that the U.S. does not support. In the 1970s, the United States passed laws made it illegal for U.S. companies to cooperate with the boycott against Israel and any other foreign boycott that the U.S. does not support. As a result, there are three things that exports needs to know:
- The U.S. Anti-Boycott Laws are often overlooked; however, violations can trigger stiff penalties.
- Prohibited boycott requests can appear in any documentation received.
- Boycott Requests are often subtle and do not always reference Israel
- U.S. companies have to reject and report prohibited boycott requests
